More than a hundred million people play Fortnite: Battle Royale. In e-sports, too, the game is just getting started. But what is it all about? An overview for beginners.

“Fortnite: Battle Royale” is set in a colorful comic world and follows the so-called Battle Royale principle. At the beginning, 100 opponents jump off with a paraglider over a large playing area, only to fight on the battlefield shortly afterwards. The last survivor wins.
Weapons, ammunition and remedies are randomly distributed in the environment and must be collected. By the way, it is important to keep an eye on a rising storm, which gradually restricts the play zone.
The biggest unique selling point of Fortnite: Battle Royale compared to other genre representatives is the ability to disassemble almost any object in the area with the pickaxe and use it as building material for barricades, ramps or platforms. The tactical repertoire is thus noticeably expanded.
How can I play the game?
Platform: Fortnite: Battle Royale is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, iOS and Mac OS. An Android version is still in development.
Price: The game can be downloaded for free on all compatible platforms. The cooperatively playable mode “Save the World” is available for a fee and in the Founder’s Package version from 39.99 Euros.
In-app purchases: Are present in the game, but only of a cosmetic nature. As a result, they do not affect the balance of the game, but unlock new skins, gliders, dances or emotes (these come included if you get your Fortnite Account here). For multiplayers, the so-called Battle Pass, which costs 950 V-Bucks (approx. 9.50 Euro) is recommended. It grants access to 100 different rewards as long as you master predetermined challenges.
Age rating: “Fortnite: Battle Royale” received the USK rating “from 16 years”. The cooperative mode “Save the World” is released from the age of 12.
